Welcome to Benalla P-12 College.
Benalla P-12 College offers the unique opportunity for your child to go through their whole schooling journey at the one place, well known and cared for by experienced and highly competent staff. This is one of the great advantages of a P-12 College, where children have their education and wellbeing carefully monitored by a dedicated and caring group of professionals from Foundation to Year 12.
BenaIla P-12 College offers a diverse and sequential curriculum that is designed to address the needs of all students. We currently have four campuses, F-Year 4 at Avon Campus and Waller Campus, Year 5 to Year 9 at Faithfull campus and Year 10 to Year 12 at the Barkly campus. In 2019 the Barkly campus will move to the Faithfull campus to make this a Year 5 to Year 12 campus. The new Senior School building will be finished in time for 2019.
Literacy and Numeracy are the core areas of focus at Benalla P-12 College. All students must achieve expected levels in these areas to be successful in their education. All staff here believe that all children can and will succeed in their learning. Extra support is provided for those not yet at the standard so that they can be successful. We have high expectations of our students and ourselves.
When students enrol at Benalla P-12 College they are immersed into a world of opportunities. These include the chance to participate in and join the school’s instrumental band in Year 7, bake tasty recipes in the Stephanie Alexander Garden Program in Years 3 & 4, create digital art using the latest technologies, or for more extreme experiences, trek the Kokoda Track in Year 11. We are large enough to be able to offer a full range of VCE and VET subjects, but small enough to know and value every student.
We aim to develop in our students a love of learning and instil the core values of Respect, Responsibility, Integrity and High Expectations. We actively promote positive student well-being by explicitly teaching a social and emotional program across the College. We also deliver a values based curriculum, while building a culture of achievement in academic learning, the arts, sport, vocational skills and civics and citizenship.
The school values the whole child and strives to develop strong self-esteem, confidence and independence in the child by providing a personalised, student-centred approach to teaching and learning. Teaching staff here are constantly learning themselves, to ensure they are using the most up to date, evidence based strategies and programs at all times. Staff collaborate across each of the campuses to ensure consistency of practice and transfer of information and data about each student as they make the transition from one stage of learning to the next.
We believe students learn best when there is an open and trusting relationship between home and school as together we can maximise the learning opportunities for your child.
It is with pleasure that we welcome new students and families into our vibrant and caring school community, and we look forward to having the opportunity to provide all children with a productive and successful education.
